Popular Youtuber MrBeast, aka Jimmy Donaldson, rose to fame with simple gambits and challenges, including donations to random streamers and giving away cars. He has amassed more than 233 million subscribers, with his videos averaging between 100 and 300 million views. Over the past month, he has achieved more than 310 million views, all monetised via Youtube.
His YouTube success has not gone unnoticed. Amazon Prime Video is rumoured to have greenlit a new TV show with the prolific Youtuber. This deal is estimated to be worth $100 million. Amazon has declined to comment on the speculated show, though this would be a large boost for Prime Video’s platform. It is no surprise that YouTube has a massive following and legacy that modern-day streamers dream off reaching.
Given the YouTuber’s Squid Game: The Challenge video – the reality TV adaptation of Netflix’s Squid Games – some may argue that it makes more sense for him to team up with Netflix instead. However, it is important to remember that MrBeast’s videos cover many different ideas, not just replicating TV series.
It is possible that Netflix did attempt to snap MrBeast up, but Amazon offered him more money for the series. Or that Netflix has turned its attention elsewhere, focusing on other projects. As of now, there is no official confirmation or release date for MrBeast’s alleged TV streaming debut.
