Milly Alcock Is Supergirl in James Gunn’s DCU

“House of the Dragon” star Milly Alcock is the newest actor cast in James Gunn’s DCU reboot.

Gunn confirmed this casting on Monday through an Instagram post. The Australian actor will play Kara Zoe-El, superman’s cousin, in the upcoming movie “Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow”. Gunn wrote, “Milly is a fantastically talented young actor, and I’m incredibly excited about her being a part of the DCU.”

He added: “Yes, I first became aware of the in House of Dragon, but I was blown away by her varied auditions and screen tests for #Supergirl.” Gunn believes that Alcock “embodies Kara” from the “Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow” comic. Tom King wrote the original series, and illustrated by Bilquis Evely.

Shortly after the announcement, Alcock shared the post on her Instagram story. She wrote, “AHHH THANK YOU” in response.

Alcock made her debut in 2014. She appeared in several series before landing her biggest role to date. She portrayed Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen in the “Game of Thrones” prequel “House of Dragon.” Emma D’Arcy played an older version of her character later in Season 1.

Other actors have taken on the role of Supergirl over the years. This includes Melissa Benoist (“Supergirl” on CBS and CW) and Sasha Calle (2023’s “The Flash”). How will Alcock match up to her predecessors? It will be a while before we find out.
