Marvel Thunderbolts: Second Actor Walks Out

Marvel’s Multiverse Saga continues to struggle with big problems. These issues include actor accusations, bad audience reviews, huge delays, and sudden recastings. Their upcoming movie “Thunderbolts” suffered another massive blow with its second actor walk-out.

American actor Steven Yeun poses for a photo

Back in 2023, “The Walking Dead” star Steven Yeun pulled out of the movie. Originally, Marvel cast Yeun as Sentry. Yeun left the role due to scheduling issues, despite his wish to act in a Marvel movie. The current top choice for his replacement is Lewis Pullman. Pullman played Lt. Robert “Bob” Floyd in the 2022 “Top Gun: Maverick”. And now, Ayo Edebiri – whose role remains unknown – followed his lead due to, you guessed it, scheduling conflicts. Currently, Geraldine Viswanathan is set to replace her.

At the moment, the film stars Sebastian Stan as the Winter Soldier, Florence Pugh as Yelena Belove, David Harbour as Red Guardian, Olga Kurylenk as Taskmaster, Hannah John-Kamen as Ghost, Harrison Ford as Thaddeus Ross, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Countess Valentina Allegra de Fontaine. Though, there are no guarantees that this cast will see it through to the movie’s conclusion.

Marvel shows and films are rife with delays, including “Captain America: Brave New World” and “Blade”. Both movies have been pushed back to 2025. The actor portraying Blade, Mashershala Ali, reportedly almost left due to script issues. Unlike Ali, some actors won’t stick around and let their careers stagnate.

“Thunderbolts” is scheduled for release in 2025. However, this depends on further potential actor walk-outs. What does this mean for the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe?
