Apple Vision Pro: Sold Out Pre-Order

The Apple Vision Pro headset, which has recently become available from pre-order, is already sold out – according to analysts. Where will this success lead?

The Apple Vision Pro headset is being snapped up by eager consumers. After becoming available for pre-order, the Vision Pro is essentially sold out. Shipping times for all models are set at 5-7 weeks, with no units available for in-store pickups in Apple Stores.

Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo estimated that Apple has sold between 160,000 to 180,000 Vision Pro units over the weekend. This number is far higher than the original estimates that Apple would have about 60,000 – 80,000 units in stock at launch. The headset was a large risk for Apple, and seems to have paid off.

The Vision Pro’s launch date is February 2nd, and it is one of the most expensive Apple gadgets you can buy. The headset starts at $3,499 without extras (which easily brings the price over $4,000). For this reason, it is unlikely to be selling millions of units in its first year.

There are reports that Apple are already working on the next-generation variants of the Vision Pro, which should be a more affordable option. Given the current economic climate, Apple will need to offer its customers cheaper alternatives or risk becoming an overpriced novelty.

If the Apple Vision Pro is a success, others will undoubtedly follow in its footsteps. Netflix may be one of the first to develop a rival spatial computing device, especially as the streamer is the only major streamer who is refusing to create a headset-compatible app.
