Netflix Only Major Streamer to Pass on Apple Vision Pro

All major streamers are backing the apple vision pro headset, except for Netflix. Is there a method to the madness? Only Netflix seems to know.

With the pre-order of Apple’s Vision Pro now live, every major streamer has given the green light to have compatible apps created… all except for one. Netflix has passed on creating a native Apple Vision Pro app and has apparently scrapped plans to make its iPad app compatible, too.

How will Apple Vision Pro users watch their favourite Netflix movies and shows on the $3,499 headset?

“Our members will be able to enjoy Netflix on the web browser on the Vision Pro, similar to how our members can enjoy Netflix on Macs,” stated Netflix on the topic.

However, this appless approach comes with drawbacks. For example, apple Vision users won’t be able to watch offline content, as this feature is only available on the Netflix apps.

Apple was prepared for developer hesitance to fully support. The Vision Pro is an unproven product with a price point that is out of reach for most consumers. To offset this risky business plan, Apple streamlined the process of porting existing iPad apps to Vision Pro, offering an easy entry point.

Disney+, Amazon Prime Video, Paramount+, Peacock, and Max have all either created a Vision Pro app or ported over their iPad app. Other streamers such as Discovery+, Pluto TV, Tubi, Fubo, Crunchyroll, Red Bull TV, IMAX, and MUBI plan to have apps on the Vision Pro soon.

Disney+ and Apply TV will also provide content that is specifically made for the headset, such as 3D movies and “immersive entertainment” experiences.

Despite the overwhelming streamer support, Netflix’s absence could hinder the success of the Vision Pro. With over 247 million subscribers, the lack of an Apple Vision app will be noticed.

Have you pre-ordered the Apply Vision Pro? Do you think Netflix should make a Vision Pro app? Will the Vision Pro be a novelty or a revolutionary shift in the entertainment industry? Follow us for more streaming news.
