Will Cillian Murphy Become the New 007 James Bond?

The search for a new 007 James Bond has been going on since Daniel Craig’s retirement in 2021. Pierce Brosnan, the ex-Bond actor, has recommended Cillian Murphy.

Since Daniel Craig retired in 2021, rumours have been rife as to which actor will become the future face of 007 James Bond.

Pierce Brosnan—the man who portrayed Bond four times between 1995 to 2002—gave his opinion on who should take up the mantle. “Cillian would do a magnificent job as James Bond on His Majesty’s Secret Service,” Brosnan commented to the BBC at the Oscar Wilde Awards in LA.

While Brosnan’s nomination must be flattering, Cillian believes “that ship has sailed… I’m a bit too old for that.” So, who will become the infamous spy 007 James Bond in the 26th film?

Actor Cillian Murphy, Oppenheimer star, and Pierce Brosnan’s James Bond recommendation.

Other possible candidates include Idris Elba, Tom Hardy, Regé-Jean Page, Paul Mescal, and Kingsley Ben-Adir. Last year, it was rumoured that two actors had been chosen, starring “two 007s – one younger and one older.”

There is no official casting or release date for the new Bond film, but that has not stopped the internet from speculating. Whoever is awarded the role will carry on the legacy of Sean Connery, the first big screen Bond, and other famous actors (George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, Brosnan, and Craig).
