Poppy Playtime is an episodic indie horror puzzle game that has taken the internet by storm since its release. Mascot horror, such as Five Nights at Freddy’s, has always piqued the internet’s imagination, and Poppy Playtime is no different. Both series are popular for their terrifying depictions of “family-friendly” mascots.
“Try to survive the vengeful toys waiting for you in the abandoned toy factory. Use your GrabPack to hack electrical circuits or nab anything from afar. Explore the mysterious facility… and don’t get caught.”
Chapter 3 introduces a new antagonist, CatNap, to join Huggy Wuggy and Kissy Missy from the previous chapters. CatNap is a giant fluffy cat that puts players to sleep. In typical Poppy Playtime fashion, don’t expect a cute and cuddly buddy. Alongside CatNap, players will face The Smiling Critters and gain new hand abilities as they explore the abandoned toy factory.
Originally planned for December 2023, players will explore the decrepit orphanage Playcare for the first time. It is set to be larger and scarier than the previous chapters.
“Chapter 3 is filled with so many sinister twists and turns, we can’t wait for players to experience it,” said Zach Belanger, co-founder and CEO of developer Mob Entertainment. “Many questions were left unanswered in Chapter 2 and with Chapter 3 being our largest instalment yet, fans can finally get answers to some of their long-awaited questions. But new questions will also be raised which players may need to wait a little bit longer to have answered!”
Titled “Deep Sleep,” Chapter 3 will arrive on Steam on January 31st. While no other platform releases have been confirmed, the previous 2 chapters were released on Switch and PlayStation in December 2023.
