Justin Timberlake Returns With New Music “Selfish”

After six years, Justin Timberlake finally teases his new single “Selfish” and upcoming album that returns to his roots “Everything I Thought It Was”.

Six years after his “Man in the Woods” solo album, Justin Timberlake has finally released a new single, “Selfish.” This song comes ahead of his new album release “Everything I Thought It Was,” which is set for March 15th.

The 42-year-old singer dropped “Selfish” on Instagram, accompanied by a music video directed by Bradley J. Calder. On YouTube, the video has currently gained over 1 million views and is trending at #16 for music. The song is a mid-tempo ballad with Timberlake’s signature R&B sounds from his early work. The song is written by Louis Bell, Henry Waller, Theron Makiel Thomas and Amy Allen.

In a post shared on Friday, the singer’s producer Timbaland confirmed that he would appear as a guest on Saturday Night Live alongside Dakota Johnson on January 27th. In April 2023, Timberlake first revealed he was making new music. “We just finished up and everything sounds great… Now, it’s really on him, and when he envisions it to come out, but it’s done, and it’s coming”.

The new material is reminiscent of Timberland’s sophomore solo album “FutureSex/LoveSounds” – which has been a fan favourite for over two decades. His producer went on to say “Music is a young sport — of course, we’ve both seen a lot of life, but you have to bring out the 13-year-old kid again, you know?” He added, “We had songs that maybe were too complicated, so we said we want it to feel like FutureSex part two, so we did songs that will fit that.”

Back in September 2023, Timberlake and NSYNC released their first song in over 20 years: “Better Place” for the movie “Trolls Band Together”. Timberlake also teamed up again with Timbaland and Nelly Furtado on the single “Keep Going Up”.
